In the old city of Koblenz the Prince Elector's Castle with its towers and the Balduin bridge are two monuments worth visiting.

The castle was built around 1185 by the gentlemen "Von der Arken" and as from 1277 it was extended by archbishop "Heinrich von Vinstingen" of Trier. Afterwards Prince Elector's Castle was transformed several times. It served temporarily as residence of the archbishops and now accommodates parts of the municipal library as well as the town archive.

A spiral staircase from sandstone is worth seeing.
